Katie & The Easter Bunny!

We took Kate to see the Easter Bunny on Thursday. While I could think of a 101 other things to spend $28 dollars on we had to do it...Its tradition. Its funny the pictures I took with my camera came out better then the ones we had to pay for. You can barely see our little peanut in his big fury arms, but sooo cute! Its amazing how excited I am for Easter this year even though Kate is 3 months old and has no idea whats going on. I had fun making her basket and can't wait to dress her up and take her to church and to visit with family. I'm so excited to start making our own memories with Kathryn.

Sorry...It's been so long since my last post!

EEEK!!! I just realized I haven't posted in 11 Days!!! Its been a little crazy here at The Murphy's. I will attempt to catch up to where we are.

I am back to work! Well kind of, I am not back in my classroom yet. I have been working in the baby room which is where Kate is. Before, everyone jumps in and tells me how lucky I am let me tell you I am not! It is very hard to be in the same room as your child, and be expected to take care of 13 other screaming babies. I give the infant teachers a lot of credit its a hard job and I am pretty much miserable. I am trying to stay positive and my boss assures me I am going back to my room. I just hope its soon. I am much better teaching the 4 & 5 year olds. I'm not sure how much more I can take being in Baby Land. For now I am just enjoying being with Kate, and trying not to go CRAZY!! On a more positive note Mike and I were able to finagle our schedules so we are each home with Katie one day a week. I am home on Tuesdays and Mike is home on Fridays. I am very happy with this schedule since I did not want Kathryn in childcare full time.

Kathryn has survived her 1st real cold! With Kate's heart condition we knew her getting a cold could be a bit devasting. She had a pretty bad cold with cough, but came through like a champ. I was terrified that her getting a cold would land us back in Children's...Nope she did great. Mom and Dad are still catching up on the sleep we lost those few nights.

Kathryn has found her voice...we are beginning to hear a lot of coooing and even getting some SMILES!!!! She is an amzing little girl who has certainly made our life complete as well as those around her.

Kate's 2 Month Check Up

Kate had her 2 month old appointment today! She is weighing in at 7lbs 13 oz. The doctor said she is gaining about and ounce a day!!!She is 20.5 inches ( she is actually in the 5th percentile for her length...I'm shocked she even made it on the board) She had to get three shots today. I don't know who cried more me or Katie.:( Doctor is very pleased with how well she is doing. We go back the end of this month for her 3rd and final RSV Vaccine.

Kathryn Is 2 Months old ALREADY!

We are taking Katie's pictures monthly with her monkey to show her growth! She is so alert and might even be awake more then she is asleep! She slept in her own room last night for a 5 hour strecth ate and went back to bed for another 3 hours! Our little girl is growing up!

Snow Fun!

We got hit with a ton of snow again! 10 inches! I couldn't resist taking Kate out into the Winter Wonderland to get some pictures of her in the snow! She even made a snow angel!

Happy Anniversary to us!! Feb. 16th

Hard to believe that Mike and I have been married 6 years! They have been an amazing 6 years with our share of ups and downs! But through it all we have laughed and loved and cried and taken care of each other. We have a strong marriage that I like to think is pretty unbreakable...after all our years of infertility we came out on top and with a beautiful little girl! I would marry Mike all over again! When we are apart... I feel lonely. When I am waiting to see him I sometimes still get butterflies . It's an amazing love that we have. He is my rock! I am proud to be Mrs. Michael Murphy!

Happy Valentine's Day

Well we spent our Valentine's Day with Kate's heart Doctor...how fitting! She had a follow up appointment with our favorite Dr. Marx! He is very happy with how well Kate is doing. She is now weighing in at 6lbs 13 oz almost gained a pound since we were last in 3 weeks ago!!! Her echo is showing no changes since her last echo...which is great! Her heart is doing what its supposed to. He did up her blood pressure meds (due to her increased weight) He was pleased that she was fighting her 1st little cold very well...still feeding well! He said little Kathryn is still stumping me, but I'm not complaining... we'll see you in a month! Go Kate!!! She is such an amazing little girl!

My 2 Favorite Girls

Long before Kate there was Merrie! Did I mention that I love MERRIE! I always hoped that we would get pregnant quicker so Merrie and our baby would be best buddies. Well I didn't and Merrie will be 6 in March (oh my gosh where does the time go?) So maybe she can teach Kate along the way. She is the sweetest little girl. Mike and I hope that Kate grows up to be as sweet, caring and kind as Meredith. I waited a long time to have a picture of my 2 most favorite girls!

New Mommy Hair Do!

Kate and I went to the salon today so I could get my hair cut! I needed something that was easier to take care of. My hair was soo long and curly and all I ever had time to do was put in a pony... I wanted a more put together look that wouldn't take a lot of time. I also got my eyebrows waxed...(much needed) Best of all... Kate slept through it all.

Before Kate arrived... Mike & I both worried about how Shelby would handle a new baby in the house. He is such a good puppy...but, very excitable! He has surprised us! He hasn't quite figured Kate out... but is very protective of her when she cries he comes running! The only problem we have had so far is he thinks Katie's bouncy seat is his new bed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UGH! So we just have to be sure not to leave that around!

Corn Chowder

Corn Chowder
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup diced bacon
4 medium potatoes, chopped
1/2 medium onion, chopped
2 cups water
2 1/2 to 3 cups cups cream-style corn, 2 (12 ounces each) cans
2 teaspoons salt
pepper to taste
2 cups half-and-half or light cream, scalded

PREPARATION:
Sauté bacon until browned and crisp; add chopped potatoes and onions. Add water, corn, and seasonings; cover and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Stir in half-and-half; heat through but do not boil.

This is what we had for dinner... Sooo yummy! A real comfort food!

Cardic Appointment

We just got back from Children's... All three of us! Its a good thing when Kate comes back home with us. I'm not going to lie I was a little nervous this morning. Kate is doing fantastic! Dr. Marx says that this little girl keeps amazing him, and he is thrilled with how well she is doing! She was a trooper for her echocardiogram : ) Slept through most of it : ) She is now weighing in at 5lbs 11 oz. (I'm sticking to Children's scale... I don't think the one at my peds office is accurate) We go back on Feb. 14th Valentine's Day!

Katie's 1st Bath!

Tonight, we gave Kate her 1st bath in her tub! Up until now we have been giving her sponge baths! I was afraid she would scream and cry...She didn't she LOVED it! She was so content! I of course was the worried mom...thinking the water was too hot. Even though her rubber ducky (which doubles as a thermoter) said it was just right, as did her daddy! There is nothing as sweet as the smell of a just bathed baby!!!

Ranch Pasta!

Yummy!!!

16oz pasta ( I used Bowties)
1 Stick of Butter
1 Pkg. Dry Ranch Dressing
1/2 C. Frozen Peas
2 Chicken Breast cooked and cubed

After cooking pasta, move to a bowl. In a pot melt the butter and mix in Ranch mix. Stir in frozen peas and stir until melted. Mix in chicken and cooked pasta. Combine until butter covers pasta well.

Scrapbook Page!

Well, if you know me you know my favorite hobby and the only one I have really stuck with is Scrap booking! I love all aspects of it...the craftiness, the paper, the PICTURES & the STORIES! Now that Kate is here it is more important then ever that I scrapbook for her. ( at least now I know I have someone to leave them to ; ) ) Anyway, as with everything else life gets in the way and I haven't had time to scrap. I knew with a new baby it would be harder then ever. So for 2008 I vowed to do 1-3 layouts a week! The scrap booking board I frequent, is helping me do that by posting weekly challenges using different sketches and layouts. I'm already behind its week three of the challenge and I am just starting. It just means before Sunday I have to do at least 2 more layouts ideally I would like to do 6 more! So here is my 1st challenge layout. In honor of my pseudo niece Merrie! ( She was the reason I scrapped before I had Kate... I have sooo many pictures of her in my books I thought I would just leave her my albums... I still may leave her some!)

What a great invention!!!! Kate loves to be held and cuddled... and lets face it I love to hug and cuddle her! But, it makes getting anything else done rather impossible. Well Mike brought out the Baby Bjorn and lets just say Mommy and baby are in love! She is soo content and I am so comfortable. It allows me to cuddle my lovey and still check email, blog, scrapbook and even fold laundry...LOL ok I probably won't fold laundry. : )

The Best Dip EVER!

Buffalo Chicken Dip

INGREDIENTS:
8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
1 cup blue cheese salad dressing
1/2 cup Frank's REDHOT Buffalo Wing Sauce
1 cup crumbled blue cheese
1 cup shredded Sharp Cheddar cheese
2 cups finely chopped cooked chicken ( I use Perdue Short Cuts)

DIRECTIONS:
HEAT oven to 350°F. Place cream cheese into deep dish 9-inch pie plate.
Microwave 1 min. to soften. Whisk in salad dressing, Buffalo Wing Sauce and blue cheese until smooth. Stir in chicken. BAKE 20 min. or until mixture is heated through. Cover with shredded cheddar cheese. Bake 5 mins or until cheese is melted. Serve with Trisuts or tortilla chips.

I orginally got this recipe from my friend Beth on Scrapshare. I didn't like it with the canned shredded chicken, so I tweaked it a bit and now I can't get enough!

We just had it tonight! YUMMY!

Trying again...

Well I tried this back in April... that was before I got pregnant and my life got CRAZY!!! So now I have a whole new reason to blog. I'm sure our family and friends care much more what's going on with our sweet baby girl then just me & Mike anyway! So I have a great insentive to keep up on this. Again it's too much info to go back and fill you in on all that stuff that has happend! If you are reading this you probably know all that already. I may fill in some of the back stuff if our life ever gets boring and I need something to write!
